Even though the season is long, you can see the effects of momentum already. The spring in the step of the Tunners is significantly different to the plodding of the Wood Ducks even at this early stanza. It is called momentum and the spark it creates through a side is energizing. But momentum can go two ways, the sharpest of the double edged sword, the excitement of another victory or the devastation of another defeat.
The Tunners have filled up and their engine and it is purring. Top of the Table and solid scoring through the team, they are turning up and seem ready to play each week. After taking care of Triple WWW who are also going well last week, they face up against the Tridents, a good team who found something last week putting another sword into the injured body of the Wood Ducks. Another win for the Tunners and they will stay on top going into Easter, a great platform for the rest of the season.
The Buglers are feeling the energy as well after feeling the sharp edge of the other side of this steel blade last year. The wooden spoon can be the perfect implement to spark some effort, just ask my Grandmother, and it appears to have worked for the Buglers. A listless and uninterested side has suddenly the look of that dual premiership club. A massive 190 points last week in doing over a gallant F Troop sees them line up the Wood Ducks who must be feeling like drafting Laurie Levy for next year. This is a classic David vs Goliath battle, and this is where momentum can change in an instant. Buglers win and they are looking ominous but if the Wood Ducks can find away, their season could turn on a weekend and the Easter Eggs that they consume in the bye next weekend, will be very tasty indeed.
The Brothers In Arms are the only other team with a donut in the loss column, quietly going about their season outside the glare that is shining on the top two. Whilst given a scare from the now on track Wanderers 2 weeks ago, they disposed of their arch enemy Wally World in Round 3 with a good score and plenty left in their tank. They will need this momentum though as the competitions arch enemy and defending champions the Ferrets are next up and they will be smarting from their rare loss last week. This is the game of the round. 14 other teams will in eager for the Brothers to continue their winning ways as the Ferrets are feared for good reason. The Brothers can win; a team that attracts little of the headlines that bandy around the articles of a ‘Google news’ search and they want their share. Beating the Ferrets as the lead in to Easter should create some trending around the social mediums of the world. The world of Cyberspace and the drive down Farm Road; two sources of momentum that will be energizing teams over Easter after the results are locked in from Round 4.
